AHA: South Asians' diabetes is due to Systemic Racism
The American Heart Association says it's your fault that Indian-Americans suffer high rates of cardiovascular disease.
From KFF:
Back in 2019, before covid, the George Floyd racial reckoning murder and car crash binge, and the further rise of fentanyl, Asians and Hispanics were the longest lived Americans, with Latino-Americans enjoying 3.1 years more life expectancy at birth than whites, and Asians living 6.8 years longer than whites.
By 2022, Asians lived 7.0 years more than whites.
Why do Asians live so much longer than whites in America?
That would seem like an interesting question, but few care.
Why do you want to know information that conceivably might help whites? That sounds pretty white supremacist of you.
But the Washington Post does care about how racism is causing (some) Asian Americans to drop dead of heart disease or diabetes.
You’ll never guess what the Post headline blames primarily! After the paywall, I walk through both the Washington Post article and the hilarious American Heart Association official statement.
But first:
By the way: I’m doing book tour appearances in Chicago next week to promote my anthology Noticing: dinner on Thursday evening September 26th downtown and a speaking event on Friday night September 27th on Chicago’s north lakefront. See Passage Press’s website for tickets.
