Asian Discrimination: The U. of California's Asian Purge and Hispanic Surge

Several University of California campuses have seen plummeting Asian shares as they pursue becoming "Hispanic-Serving Institutions."

Helen Andrews pointed out that that white parents in Silicon Valley tend to pull their kids out of school districts that are getting extremely Asian, presumably because they don’t find the ultra-competitive culture that has crushed East Asian total fertility rates congenial.

For this, she was denounced as a racist.

Of course, anti-Asian behavior is largely found among liberal whites, such as Harvard alumni interviewers, who found Asian applicants to have undesirable personalities.

Asians don’t want to move to Kentucky, they want to move to Cupertino.

One of the most striking examples of anti-Asian discrimination in recent years has been the Asian purge at the University of California at San Diego in elyisian La Jolla. Long assumed to be the #3 of the UC campuses after Berkeley and UCLA, San Diego’s undergraduate population dropped from 53% Asian in 2010 to 40% Asian in 2024 (above).

This is largely because UCSD’s Hispanic share increased from 15% to 31%:

This probably wasn’t due to population growth, because after a lot of Hispanics went home in 2008, the Asian population of California has been growing slightly faster than the Hispanic population.
