Kamala is glad to say that she has never seen a spade

Unlike Gwendolen in "The Importance of Being Earnest," though, Kamala is painful.

Watching Kamala’s shoveling technique, I’m reminded of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, in which country girl Cecily and city girl Gwendolen square off:

Cecily: This is no time for wearing the shallow mask of manners. When I see a spade I call it a spade.

Gwendolen: I am glad to say that I have never seen a spade. It is obvious that our social spheres have been widely different.

Actually, though, Joan Greenwood’s Gwendolen in the 1952 movie is awesome
