Oct. 23, 2024… ‘Miss Merkel’
Angela Merkel, free of her duties as chancellor of Germany and retired to the fictional Klein Freudenstadt (Little Happy Town), stays sharp by solving the occasional local homicide in two German television movies that premiered Tuesday on MHz Choice. This Merkel, played by the veteran stage actress and director Katharina Thalbach, is a gossipy, evidence-stealing, slightly smug 70-ish pixie whose stern East German upbringing gives her the wherewithal to run rings around feckless local cops in the former West.
Lemme guess … in a recurrent twist, at the end of each show, all the criminals Merkel catches turn out to be Muslim migrants she had let in to Germany in 2015. But, then, just as the cops are about to cuff them, they always get away because the lights go out due to Merkel having abolished Germany nuclear power plants and the Ukrainians having blown up the Nordstream natural gas pipeline from Russia.
On second thought … Nah, that’s not how the shows end.
Trust me on this.
I'll wager at least one Muslim falls under unjust suspicion per show.
The buzz is that DJ Trump's French Fries segment tested so well that if he doesn't win, or after the term if he does, he's going to produce and star in a cooking show -- no word on the title yet, but it might be a fair bet that it'll include the word "American" -- and he'll show you what the best cuts of Kobe Beef are for carbonizing into hockey pucks, or sometimes he's going to visit other chefs at their restaurants like for instance in the episode at the McDonald's on 17th St. he'll teach you how to ease in smoothly with an entourage of twenty, buy twenty-one big bags, each with two Big Macs, two Fillet-O-Fish [sic], and a chocolate malted, and then when everybody's got their bag, switch yours with one of them at random, as did the Borgias of old. Looking forward.
