Given the massive resources of the Times, surely they could have found an illegal immigrant who committed no crimes, became a CPA who dutifully filed taxes for himself and others, and was living a quiet life in the burbs raising a family and volunteering at the local church where his vibrant home cooked native cuisine was appreciated by all?

Or maybe is this not something that exists in the wild? Nah, couldn’t be.

NYT journalists are currently pitching their editors multiple pieces about felons deported to idyllic Caribbean islands. Strangely no one wants to cover deportees to Outer Mongolia.

The NYT knows what it’s doing. It doesn’t pick a sympathetic illegal alien because if they did, that would create the standard for no deportation and the ultimate goal, rewarding illegals with citizenship, particularly the right to vote and bring over other family members from overseas.

They deliberately choose criminals so the line can be moved so far left that no one is ever deported and every single illegal, including violent criminals, cannot be deported and get citizenship. Their standard is everyone gets to stay no matter what they did.

Trump must play the same game and go after that hypothetical CPA church goer law abiding (minus the obvious laws broken) and no crime committing illegal.

That's what's so appalling. What kind of person are you to believe these criminals are good for any part of our country? Unlike violent blacks, they often victimize whites, so no one is safe. That must be the "equity" they want. Worst ruling class ever.

MamaBear's avatar

They have a different worldview where every illegal is a vulnerable, marginalized person condemned to a life of poverty by rich, greedy white Americans. The left is obsessed with “victim hood.”

Years ago, I wrote about the giant hoopla over the attempt to deport some Trinidadian conman back to Trinidad. He'd been convicted of mortgage fraud and now the government was trying to send him home to Trinidad and huge crowds of protestors were showing up acting like Trinidad is Devil's Island or something. In response, I kept posting scenic pictures of Trinidad, but the New York Times didn't seem to get the joke.

Derek Leaberry's avatar

Mr. Sailer, the average New York Times reader goes through life with their mouths slung open in naive stupidity.

NYT readers know what a shithole country sounds like.

Derek Leaberry's avatar

Sounds and smells like the Bronx.

The film "Heaven Know's Mr. Allison" was filmed in Trinidad by the way.

To return to a distant post of yours, do you think that Lucky Luciano had a difficult time re-integrating into Italian life? Was the Italian government pleased or a bit pissed off at the American government for sending him back to old Italia?

This guy is not exactly Luciano in the annals of criminal masterminds though, is he?

Clever Pseudonym's avatar

I think ol' Lucky spread enough grease around that everybody was happy to have him—and smart enough not to say otherwise.

MamaBear's avatar

They also deported Joe Giudice of Bravo Housewives fame. He was an LPR but no one shed a tear. He wasn’t even violent like this NYT thug.

Whenever someone starts talking about "nuances," I know they're trying to pull a fast one on me.

Kevin Hart will show his dramatic chops playing Sad Kidnapper Man who, when deported from NYC, must adjust his Americanized ways to his family’s laid-back life in Jamaica: in “ICE, Baby, ICE”.

Clever Pseudonym's avatar

lol good one!

Maybe he can team up in a black/white buddy movie w Rob Van Winkle.

SJ's avatar

The part of the ICE agent charged with escorting him to Jamaica has been offered to ex-Marine Rob Riggle.

Trump and the GOP should pass a law stating that any illegal alien can stay if they're given free room and board for one year by an employee or board member of the NY Times, who must also assume total responsibility for their precious pet victim (including serving any prison sentences) if he/she gets convicted while under their supervision.

You can't preach this much and not practice.

Gilgamech's avatar

I would widen out that generous opportunity to any activist lawyer, judge, journalist or protester. Or just throw it open to any American - up front bond required of course.

Indeed. Which reminds me of how many leftists back in 2015 said they'd be prepared to house a "refugee" in their home when Syrians and fake Syrians flooded Europe via Turkey and Greece. In reality practically none of them housed any.

Derek Leaberry's avatar

Very sad. Perhaps Paul Simon might write a song about this poor creature and his life of oppression by the white man. They could call it "Bleaker Street."

Those are the most guilty "innocent eyes" I've seen. I used to see them all the time on East Capitol Street in Washington DC.

Serving 15 years sounds like more than a garden variety kidnapping, particularly if it was a state offense with parole and not federal (no parole). How long had he been out?

I saw a tweet today that apartment vacancies have risen from 4.5% to over 6 in two years. Are that many people self-deporting, or are new post-covid buildings hitting the market now?

You know what, I think I've finally figured out the liberal mind.

Let's imagine we lived in a world where 15% of the US population was Jennifer Connelly. Hell, there's an entire continent of Jennifer Connelly's just a ferry ride from Europe.

One of the Jennifer Connelly's mugs you? Sure that's bad, but come on, it's Jennifer Connelly. You should feel honored.

One of them bombs their SAT but wants to go to Harvard? Accept her! Harvard could use the upgrade.

Casting directors start filling half the movies with Jennifer Connelly? Finally, some vision in Hollywood.

Society wouldn't function better. But life would feel a lot more worthwhile.

Jennifer Connelley would have been maybe the 9th best looking chick in the Kappa house at Berkeley in 1978.

I have a friend who sends me articles now and then from the NYT. I can’t read them unless I’m subscribed. I’m not sad that my subscription dollars are spent on more worthy writers. Thanks Steve for confirming my decision.

Ralph L's avatar

Some subscribers get X number of articles they can give others free access to, so you might be able to read it, but you'd have to give NYT your email, and you know what that means.

Steve Campbell's avatar

I try not to give anyone my email or phone number. I did one time, a political donation in 2020. Since then I’ve received more than 20 communications a day from the party. And my candidate lost.

What is underneath it all is hatred and fear of Whites, and a desire that they should never regain political power.

I wonder if it is possible to deport all the people like this guy and not the 2 year old American citizens?

Oh well. The dream of picking the low hanging fruit will stay a dream.

Danfromdc's avatar

Was Patrick Ewing in Jamaica 44 years ago?

Derek Leaberry's avatar

He was a Freshman scholar-athlete at Georgetown University.

Danfromdc's avatar

Yes, he was born in Kingston. Amazing resemblance.

Gilgamech's avatar

Somewhere there’s an alternate reality where the NYT writes this sob story about a white guy.

They say that "We're sending him back to a country he barely knows," like that's such an unbearable situation, but when Nascimento Blair entered this country illegally he was coming to a country he didn't know at all.

Steve L's avatar

15 years in the slammer and you'd hardly know the country in which the prison is located-it's fairly sickening

The man came here in his 20s. He was a full grown adult.
