On behalf of white-adjacents, I apologize for boba Asians like BD Wong. He lives by DEI intersecitonality rule of commissars. Once a job is taken by a DEI hire, the replacement must be even more diverse.
According to Wikipedia, Bradley Darryl Wong was born in San Francisco in 1960 to Roberta Christine Wong (née Leong), a telephone company supervisor, and William D. Wong, a postal worker. He is of Chinese descent, with family from Hong Kong. He went to Lincoln High School [in the prosperous and heavily-Asian Sunset district] and then to San Francisco State. Early in his career he performed under the name Bradd Wong, changing to B. D. Wong on his Broadway debut in M. Butterfly.
I would have said it's because Wong was raised in a morphemic language and learned English, which is phonemic, as a second language, and apparently he did. But he was born in the USA, as American as Ben Franklin. Even more so, according to the 21st century Law of Recency (the most recently you arrived in America, the more American you are).
There was a great article on Substack by an EASL instructor in Japan about this phenomenon but I can't find it. The poster's handle was "David" if you want to give it a shot. Doubtless the Post's editors didn't feel entitled to edit the Great Gay Actor's utterances.
I feel for Asian-Americans. It must be galling to realize that Asian women are considered the most feminine while Asian men are considered the least masculine. I know it drives black women crazy that black men are considered the most masculine while black women are considered the least feminine of the races in America. Hardly worth mentioning to encounter an Asian man or black woman with chips on their shoulders.
Gay men are often put off by "sissies". That certainly puts gay Asian men at a disadvantage in the gay dating pool. Men who like other men prefer "manly" men.
I was thinking from the tone of his writing that B.D. Wong must be this fat, ugly Oriental imp. He's an imp (64") but quite handsome and fit.
Is he angry in some inscrutable, Oriental homosexual way that Darren Criss isn't dating him, and this free-floating anger comes out in this convoluted thesis against Feldman and all the imperialist Yankees? Wong's reasoning--which he believes religiously--was pretty inscrutable to me.
I was once involved in defending a sexual harassment claim against the chief executive of a Japanese company's US facility. He was a very courtly, scholarly man--stereotypically Japanese management and upright as a monk--and we paid the plaintiff some money to go away. But the germ of the whole thing, I swear to God, was the Japanese sales manager's insanely bitter and inexplicable resentment of the 6' tall, Korean CPA controller. He would have poisoned him if he thought he could get away with it.
Forged signatures, malicious slander, convoluted dating relationships, in a company in a very mundane sector. Asians just baffle me.
In any ecosystem an organism's main competitors are other members of the same species. They compete for same resources whether that is prey, jobs or mates.
Filipinos are generally considered Southeast (and therefore East Asians) rather than Pacific Islanders. Perhaps a small percentage of the inhabitants of the Philippines would be considered Pacific Islanders. I believe about 1% of Taiwanese are related to Polynesians, although the Filipino case is probably less clear cut than in Taiwan.
Not all Asians feel this way. I'm reminded of an incident I witnessed some years ago. A very white-looking guy I know, who has one Asian grandparent, identified as Asian on his graduate school applications. Another mutual acquaintance, fully Asian, was very mad at him and felt he was taking away opportunities from Asians. Of course, the irony is that neither of them seemed to realize that he was most likely decreasing his chances of acceptance by listing himself as Asian instead of just white.
Imagine what an utter hell hole the US would be if we'd never done the 1619 thing, never let allowed Chinese cheap labor to come build the CP tunnels, never let in the Jews, never threw open immigration again (after the sensible 1924 restriction and never allowed the border invasion?
A deplorable hell-hole I tell you.
Beyond the annoying--mosquito adjacent--whining of whiny Asian fags, these tiny tempests from tiny tinhorns serve to remind of just how contentious and unpleasant "diversity" tends to be. Yeah, the Jews successfully imposing minoritarianism on America has made everything fifty times worse--and 1000X noisier--than it should be, but the weed of unhappiness and contention is always growing once the seed of diversity takes root.
I despise theatre and musicals so I don't really know the actors discussed. I had a very good friend when I grew up who was half-Japanese. We considered him white and all of us liked his Japanese mother. He married a liberal white woman from Bethesda, MD and turned his back on us because his liberal wife hated us. So be it. I am sure his children are considered white and will probably marry whites. The Japanese in my former friend's descendants will be filtered out like Senator Warren's Indian ancestors.
"The Asian community has had quite a passionate reaction to this. It's screaming to be heard."
I don't know, I was just having lunch over in Koreatown, and didn't notice anyone screaming to be heard, unless they were selling merch.
Something tells me this "Asian community" is a a rhetorical judo flip meant to disarm any opponents through emotional and moral blackmail—but really only amounts to the other Asians this guy knows. But at the same time, if America's Asians are "screaming" about a Jewish guy replacing an Asian guy in a barely known musical in NYC, that means they must be doing pretty well. It aint exactly internment!
Terrible (and terribly stupid) things happen to minorities raised and processed under the white liberal dispensation. They become trained to sing songs of woe for their supper, to walk an endless Via Dolorosa while having to perform as self-pitying spokesman, prophet and martyr for "their community", which exists nowhere except inside a Critical Theory. It's as if the process of being racially essentialized essentially transforms them into a brittle whiny college girl.
They thought the white man's imperialism was bad, but at least it allowed you to maintain some personal dignity. The white woke woman's emotional imperialism turns every minority into a Munchausen baby.
BD Wong was most recognizable to me as the scientist in Jurassic Park. You might recognize him from "Father of the Bride," Franck Eggelhoffer's assistant is Howard Weinstein, played by BD Wong.
A Wong playing a Weinstein, what an amazing turn! Although, is that a hate crime?

Is English Mr. Wong's second (or third) language? Many of his sentences don't make sense grammatically, and the rest don't make sense logically.
It seems like he's making the argument traditionally made by Muslims, that property once conquered for Islam must never revert to kuffars.
Also, a stageplay about "retired robots"? Is Mr. Wong saying that only Asians can act like a robot? Sounds kinda ... racist.

Ken
Which again shows at a certain level it’s not ancestry but class. Wong is like Mamdani, a wealthy Upper West Side red diaper baby.

Wong is, however, gay. That changes the dynamic in some complicated ways which I refuse to understand in any detail.

He was the psychiatrist on Law & Order SVU and played the fake girl in the original production of M. Butterfly.
He is a good actor. Can't say the same about his arguments in his op-ed.
Isn't Criss a Pacific Islander, not an Asian?
"Feldman’s girlfriend." I assume you mean in the show. Why can't all these gay guys get along?

"But the show’s recent decision ... spurred a weeklong conversation about representation."
That sounds like an incredibly stupid conversation:
"Represent me! No, represent me, because I'm "underrepresented"! How do you know you're underrepresented? That's racist!
Hold up, I thought Sydney Sweeney just ended all this BS. Just ridicule the shit out of them and move on.
Our diversity is our greatest strength.

The top right photo is disgusting. He is subject number one in the decline of Western Civilization.
It’s not that Jews can only be seen as white. They can only be denigrated as white, never as Jewish
