We've Always Been At War With Venezue ... What?

What's the deal with attacking Venezuela? I don't get it.

Why is Trump talking about going to war with Venezuela?

Various theories come to mind:

A. It’s like the Bay of Pigs — we have to stop the Red Tide before all of Latin America joins the Warsaw Pact. Okay, but nobody in 2025 looks at Venezuela or Cuba and says: We need that. Latin America has frequent leftist surges, but that’s because Latin America is pretty messed up in general.

B. Trump figures he can push Maduro out of power for an easy win.

C. Trump doesn’t want to rule the world, just the Western Hemisphere (e.g., Greenland). Perhaps Trump read 1984 in high school and decided that dividing the world up into three hegemonies was the way to go?

D. Trump wants Venezuela’s oil.

E. Trump feels at home in Latin America?

F. Trump doesn’t care about Venezuela, but Marco Rubio does.

G. Conquering Venezuela would be Trump’s final vengeance on …
