Births in the United States peaked at 4.3 million in 2007, during the Bush Housing Bubble, slightly beating out 1957 at the peak of the Baby Boom.

Births dropped about 10% over the next four years as the Bubble turned into Bust.

Hence, it’s long been predicted that some of the more marginal colleges would go bust as the number of native-born 18 year olds drops in the later 2020s.

The U.S. has a whole bunch of private colleges, many of them growing out of 19th Century Protestant denominational concerns that fewer and fewer people are all that worked up over in the 21st Century.

Colleges have long been planning to use high-paying immigrants to fill their openings in return for entree into the high-wage U.S. market.
