Will GOP Be Rewarded for Its Successes?

Crime is way down. Will anyone notice?

I don’t pay much attention to politics these days. I haven’t looked at surveys in years, but it seems extremely likely the Democrats will do very well in November because:

A. The President’s party usually gets slammed at the midterm elections during his second term.

B. Trump’s Iran War was an utter war of choice and he doesn’t seem to have a clue how to win it soon.

C. During an era of intense voter concern over inflation, Trump’s Iran War has added $1.50 per gallon to the cost of the single most visible price in America.

D. In Trump’s old age, his eccentricities like his egomania, as exemplified by his increasing desire to name everything after himself, are increasingly running out of control. For example, we’ve known we haven’t needed a new Trump class of battleships since the Battle of Midway on June 4, 1942.

So, I figure the Democrats will do well in November.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Trump retire on January 20, 2027 after six years in office. We don’t have an age limit on who can get elected President, so it wouldn’t hurt to have a tradition that Presidents sometimes retire before being forced from office.

Of course, with Trump, that’s unlikely to happen.

On the other hand, quite a few of Trump’s policies this term have been strikingly effective, such as his war on racial discrimination against whites. Similarly, Trump has been successful against illegal immigration:

Other successes, such as the current decline in crime, are due to Trump not doing the crazy stuff the mainstream Establishment was doing until quite recently.

But one problem is that Republicans are particularly unlikely to be rewarded for success.

Paywall here.
