Any thinking about what's been going on the UK? The anti-migrant protests and Tommy Robinson's march seem to indicate that a significant share of Brits have actually woken up, are angry/pissed about being replaced and--perhaps--will not be genocided out of existence without a fight? Of course, the super-state is going to work to crush them and it may go nowhere, but it is interesting.
Unfortunately, have no real handle on the UK. I have only third tier British acquaintances. I've followed your link to Ed West to get his take--though most is behind a paywall and I'm not a subscriber. You no doubt have more contacts with people "in the know" over there. It would be interesting to hear how things look from their perspective.
Jake Gyllenhaal could do Bryan Kohberger. He's a dead ringer in AppleTV's Presumed Innocent.
Speaking of film, crimes and prosecution, the Pike County Massacre would make an incredible, wrenching movie. And the courtroom drama for that 9-yr old crime is nowhere near over. The presiding judge retired and another retired judge, James Hein, took over. He blew up the State's plea agreement with Jake Wagner and took the death penalty off the table for Billy Wagner, procedural botches that have resulted i n rare appeals by the State, which generally has few appellate options in criminal cases.
I had thought Jake had some honor in him but then I watched excerpts of his remarks at his sentencing hearing. Performative psychopath.
Our system is way out of balance on the side of the evil psychopaths, and we can get back to equilibrium orderly or chaotically. Or just devolve into Lebanon-Balkans-Haiti.
I find it amusing when, as often occurs, a biopic portrays the subject as less impressive than the real person. This was very much the case in the Ron Howard-directed 'Hillbilly Elegy' about the young J. D. Vance, who is not the doofus of the film. Hollywood will, no doubt, do the same to Charlie Kirk.
If Hollywood could make the film it wants about this horrific event, Charlie Kirk would be a ranting, redneck, Lester Maddox-type character, and his killer a sincere but confused young idealist who is pushed over the edge by Kirk's hateful rhetoric. Another Luigi. That's why "Let's start thinking about the movie" sounds weird to me.
Nicholas Hoult says that he goes into audition for Superman and Van Helsing, but ends up getting cast as Lex Luthor and Nosferatu.
Consistent with that, I would probably cast him as that furry-adjacent killer and Austin Butler as Charlie, as capturing more of his shaggy boyish all-American charm. (A lot of young male movie stars seem to be skinny 6ft-plus guys these days.)
Pretty interesting angle especially since this event is, in many ways, made for a confused public. I mean, what a plot twist to have a redneck tranny-lover pull the trigger…Just like the end of “Conclave “ where the Pope has a pussy!

Just for the record, Mormons generally are not "rednecks" neither ethnographically, geographically, nor culturally. And--I hadn't read anything but just did a quick search--while this family lives outside of the SLC metro (down I-15 near St. George), they seem very ho-hum middle class--dad sheriff, mom some sort of state social services--neither rural, agricultural, backwoods, Southern, nor lower class. The only way they would be "rednecks" is being non-elite flyover whites. (By that standard a whole bunch of my family would be "rednecks".)
Not a Mormon nor Mormon adjacent--I've had only some limited contact both in Scouting and on the job and I think their theology is just over the top looney. But from the outside, I'd say Mormonism seems fairly effective at helping ordinary Americans *avoid* the pitfalls that often befall ordinary whites in the modern world. (Avoid descent into "white trash" behavior.) Basically, Mormonism seems to provide the sort of "guardrails" that our elites have spent the past 60 years kicking away.
I’ve known a few socially as well as through work-they are definitely not rednecks. Impressive people if you value industry, thrift, and family values. It’s kind of a totalizing religion in a way that most Christian denominations are not. (I won’t get into whether Mormons are actually Christian or not.) As I understand it, the church and the local bishop have quite a bit of authority over private family life, but the flip side is that church members get quite a bit of support and coaching if they’re have trouble budgeting, etc. I welcome corrections from any Mormons!
When Mitt Romney was in the private equity game he was also the Mormon bishop of Boston, so he spent a lot of weekends straightening out the personal lives of Boston's rare Mormon screw-ups instead of closing huge deals.
Also, the banjo player in Deliverance can't play the banjo, is a savvy businessman, and when I met him, he ran Sundance Pub in Clayton. Smart guy. The residents of Clayton were appalled by the movie. They were poorly used, as was Dickey's book.
I will say that when the decline and fall of the West is analyzed, Hollyweird deserves a starring role.
The ability of to reach *over* people's parents, family, neighbors--their actual community, their actual "tribe"--and propagandize, especially young people, is new to humanity. And to be able to do it with moving pictures--which seem "real", our brains have not yet evolved a natural "b.s." filter on what we see--is *extremely* powerful, and in the hands of people hostile to your people, your interests, your nation, extremely corrosive.
By the standards of our media anyone familiar with a firearm is seen as a redneck thus my comment. But I appreciate your more accurate ethnographic analysis.
In a comment a couple days ago I wondered if the shooter could be similar to Mangione. Robinson is a bit too odd-looking, though, and there’s the whole trans/furry live-in theyfriend and, uh…pet? His best bet for an empathy boost is to claim that he was molested by his ultra-Republican father.
What a strange thing to be thinking about now.
Over the course of my career, I'm really not big on thinking just about what other people assume I should be thinking about.

Is there hope? Or is Britain just done?
Mr. Sailer is a genius of shower thoughts.
They’re strange until Sailer notices them.
He’s the unstranger.
Maybe Steve is making a subtle point that we’re are in a low level civil war
It’s imperial, not civil
We are going to win
That guy from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
My buddy got mixed up spent about an hour on the 10th thinking that Charlie Day had been shot

I remember hearing news of those murders on the radio and thinking it was a cartel murder. The truth is even worse.
That was a level of social disruption that I can't remember having seen before in my lifetime. Tribal warfare.

A more MAGA-friendly film company, such as Angel Studio,s could make multi-millions on a Kirk hagiography.
At first, I thought the headline was “Both the Killer and His Trans Boyfriend…”
I thought exactly the same thing. Hoult could play Robinson and Furry Boyfriend, and throw in Kirk as a bonus role.
I thought Hoult was very good in the Tolkien biopic, even though the script was pretty bad.

Bill Skarsgård was cast as Nosferatu.

Do that and throw in an oddball screenplay and you got yourself some Oscar bait
Oh, I think we should follow Netflix's lead and strive for accuracy from "Adolescence" and make the star Nigerian. For starters.
Nicolas Hoult and you don't mention The Great where he plays Emperor Peter III against Ellie anning as Catherine. See it - all 3 series.

Boy a really "my backyard" iSteve post.

Ah Steve you’re a subtle fellow, pointing out that Tyler Robinson looks like an actor. 🤨
The killer could be played by a cat turd
I get a Maulkaky vibe off the killer, and and a responsible adult male vibe off Kirk.
