Trump ties his Greenland Crisis to Norway not giving him a Nobel Peace Prize.
Egomania has always been a concerning (if entertaining) part of Donald Trump’s personality. Yet, the farcical but far-reaching Greenland crisis, one wholly of Trump’s personal concoction, highlights the question of whether the 79-year-old’s advancing age is making it harder for him to control aspects of his character that he used to have more mastery over.
For example, Trump responded to a message from Norwegian prime minister Jonas Gahr Støre over Trump’s threats to take Greenland from Denmark by hook or by crook with this tweet on Truth Social:
Dear Jonas:
Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a “right of ownership” anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland.
Thank you!
President DJT
A younger Trump would also no doubt be sore about not winning the Nobel Peace Prize, but would likely have more self-control to pass it off as perhaps a joke.
One problem with aging is a decline in self-control over troublesome aspects of your personality. With most people, this also coincides with a decline in the energy needed for self-assertion. But with Trump, the lion even in winter still has abundant energy.
Trump has exactly three years left on his second term.
What do you think?

Everything with Trump is a negotiating position. Best not pay attention until the end.
I’d like to think this is a preamble to getting out of NATO. Mostly, I’m just enjoying the show.
